Farmstead is a good place with a mall, restaurants, a school - you can always find good loot there. I recommend going via the Warehouse District. On the innermost west wall of the plant, there's a hole blocked by rubble, thanks to a weirdo. Bring two pipe bombs to blow the rubble open, then you can go to Farmstead.
